Roman name “Viroconium”, the excavated remains of the second largest Roman city in Britain. Impressive ruins include 2nd century baths and remains of a huge gateway. A replica Roman Town House is now open at Wroxeter, built as part of Channel 4’s entertaining TV series ‘Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day’.
